Enrique teaches us how one person can make a significant change in the life of hundreds of people with his good intentions, creating awareness of the importance of water. I think that many people are not yet aware of the use of water since they are used to obtaining it easily, so I find this video very helpful mostly because of the reflection about the constructions that have damaged the normal water cycle. I like his message: even the smallest change can make a difference, just like he did with his system for obtaining water.

The video highlights the critical issue of global water scarcity and emphasizes how we are running out of fresh water daily. It explains how water infrastructure projects, such as rainwater harvesting, have been instrumental in helping communities that suffer from severe water shortages. These initiatives, led by explorers or innovators, aim to provide sustainable solutions to manage and conserve water resources, particularly in regions most affected by drought and water scarcity. It serves as a call to action for greater awareness and efforts toward water conservation.

The video is inspiring, as it shows us the power that one person has to transform the lives of many others. Enrique raises awareness about the importance of water with his water collection system. I think that many people still do not value its use properly, because it is still an accessible resource, although it is becoming increasingly scarce. That is why I consider this video to be really important, especially for the reflection it offers on how certain constructions have altered the natural water cycle, and shows that the smallest changes can have a big impact.

I really liked this video. Enrique talks about a very important problem, "the running out of water" and ho is happening in Mexico City. I didn't know how an aquifer works, so I think is interesting that he explains that. He also tells us that we need to get interested in problems in our own city and try to resolve them. A little change can help many people and especially our planet.

The video very interesting as it is fundamental and very relevant today. Enrique Lomnitz, in addressing these issues, highlighted the importance of ensuring that all communities have access to clean and safe water, which is essential for people's health and well-being.
This includes practices such as rainwater harvesting, wastewater treatment and efficient water use in agriculture and industry.

Joselin Andrea Adauta Cerón said...

The most important issue for me was the overpopulation in the world, and that this affects the environment, since the more population there is, the more waste is produced. Small gestures towards the environment can change things.

I think Enrique's explanation is excellent because it gives us information about caring for the environment and water in our country. I liked the video and the ideas Enrique brings to be aware of caring for resources.

Alma Delia Allende Mendoza said...

I find it interesting that Enrique and his friend Renata were interested in doing something about poverty, since it is currently still a serious problem in the country.
I liked the project that Enrique did with his friend, making a tank for Clara so that she would not bring water from far away from her house, since the water did not reach her house.
Which also helped the community in the south of the city where Clara lives, so that they would not continue to worry about not having enough water.
Currently all humanity should be aware of taking care of and reusing water, since it is a vital source for humans, animals, plants and trees.
It really scares me to imagine what will happen when the world starts to run out of water.

Diego Durán Zenteno said...

I found the information shared by Enrique Lomnitz to be excellent. I think his interest in nature could be seen from his childhood, since he had many pets. I also find it very interesting and quite good to highlight that he realized this problem of the lack of water and got involved in it by investigating more about how these people lived in less favored places in the city, and how the lack of water undoubtedly affected the quality of life of these people, since they had to make the extra effort to be able to have water, such as going to the river to carry buckets of water after walking for several hours. I think that this is a very big problem that Mexico has and that it must be solved with the help of everyone, listening to new proposals and trying to carry them out.

Karla Michell Fernández De La Rosa said...

It is a story that captivates anyone, it is very true that cities are now the cause of pollution, being a large country with a large population makes people more careless with the environment, Enrique ever since he was little wanted to do something to change it. but we are all the ones who caused this, if we don't do something we are going to end the planet

Yahir Mani Sanchez said...

This tries to make people aware of how water scarcity is caused by overpopulation that forces to spend the water resource more quickly to meet the needs of people and also tried to raise awareness about how to avoid littering in the street because it clogs the sewers of the cities also causing water shortages and flash floods, as well as caring for the flora and fauna, and be more capable of caring for water and about the waste we produce and how this affects the planet and the cycles of these.

Mayte Cruz Orozco said...

I found the video very interesting, the truth is I had not heard of Enriquez Lomnitz, but he is a good person since he has liked animals since he was little and helped solve the water problem in a community with his partner. I also really like animals and it hurts me to see that pollution and other problems are destroying the environment but when Enrique mentioned that we could solve some environmental problems I realized that he is right, he began studying the problem of water and he solved it, some time later many people helped him to solve the same problem in other communities and that happens with other problems, if a person helps the environment other people will see it and help, that will continue so that the help grows to solve the problems. different environmental problems. I really liked watching the video because it made me think about helping the ecosystem a little more.

Hernán Jiménez Palomo said...

The truth is that what Enrique did is motivating, because not only did he realize the huge problem that Mexico has with water, but he also created an organization that would be in charge of managing rainwater to reuse it, and it was all thanks to the fact that his friend Clara was beginning to have problems with the water supply in her house.
In the end, he joined forces with Renata to be able to help his community.

I found the video very interesting and important because I didn’t know about Enriquez Lomnitz, but his work really impressed me. Since he was a child, he has had a great love for animals, and over time, he made a significant contribution to the environment by helping a community solve its water access problem alongside his partner.
I have always been concerned about animal welfare, and it saddens me to see how pollution and other factors harm the ecosystem. However, when Enrique mentioned that we can all contribute to solving environmental problems, I realized he was right. He focused on the water shortage, found a solution, and later, many people joined his cause to extend help to other communities.

Watching the video made me reflect on the importance of taking action and doing something, no matter how small, to care for our planet.

Enrique Lomnitz’s contributions to water sustainability in Mexico. It effectively highlights his background, the founding of Isla Urbana, and the impact of his work. The use of statistics, such as the number of systems installed and the amount of water collected, strengthens the argument and gives credibility to the information.

However, the text lacks a critical perspective on potential challenges or limitations of Lomnitz’s approach. For example, it does not address possible obstacles in scaling the initiative, government bureaucracy, or community resistance to adopting new technologies. Additionally, while it emphasizes his achievements, it could benefit from a discussion on the long-term sustainability of these systems and the need for maintenance, education, or further policy changes.

I really liked the video, it shows in depth the importance of water, although it is a problem that is talked about, very few people are aware of the help they could generate if they are more conscious with the use of water. Enrique shows us a very strong reality that we live in Mexico due to the scarcity of resources that many of us are not aware of but it is a reality.
